Introduction
Many modern electronic systems must
know when the power supply (or supplies) is present and stable before start
up. A power supply monitor fills this
need by generating a Power-Good
signal when all is ready. Likewise,
once running, most systems require
that the supply monitor indicate
when the power supply has dropped
to a minimum thresholdвЂ”to prevent
unreliable operation and possibly
initialize housekeeping operations.
An accurate supply monitor helps to
avoid spurious resets and increases
up-time (see sidebar).
